ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
SONiA is an award winning songwriter from Baltimore (home of John Waters and Hairspray. She has gained a devoted fan base in countries around the world. Her powerful honesty touches the hearts and minds of people of all social and ethnic backgrounds, underpinned as they are by the simple belief that people are people and love is love.

She writes political songs with the passion that we saw in the 60's with a new generations eyes. She has sang with Peter, Paul and Mary on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and joined students around the world in searching for open communication between people.

This new album features songs that were inspired from personal as well as world events. Won't Let Go is a personal song about her fathers struggle with an illness that will have you reaching for the tissue. I am The Enemy speaks of the tragedy of 911 but finds her voice in Arabic, Hebrew and English. Sugarcane highlights the human kindness that one person brings to this same event.

Bucket of Blues gives us the first taste of why SONiA has been featured on Blues stages in Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Fiji.

This album shows the strength of SONiA's songwriting as well as the musicianship that has filled audiences around the world. As Billboard Magazine wrote after her last live album, "She is not to be missed".

I want to "Ride This Ride"
By far SONiA's most mature release with its wood and strings sound that resonates behind almost each song . . . sugarcane transports into an elderly woman's Bronx apartment and I go with her all the way to Ground Zero to witness a generous gesture. won't let go has the same impact, only through the lyrics of this song I am watching her father teach her how to ride a bike. SONiA's ability to turn headlines into songs is evident with Rio's Home . . . such a wonderful, complete release.

Another Great CD from SONiA
I have all of SONiAs music. Every one of her albums touches me. No Bomb Is Smart is no exception. I agree with other reviewers that note that this is her most lavishly arranged recording. It sounds full and well-supported, as I think her music deserves to be. Her lyrical and musical talent really shine through to me on this CD. The ethereal instrumentation on the first track (a song by Phil Ochs) is the first clue that a lot of production went into this. Now, Phil Ochs is great and all, but Sonia really has my heart. When I heard the second track, Sugarcane, a smile came to my face, and I thought, "That's my Sonia!". Man, I love her music.

Sonia delivers excellent lyrics with top notch music arrangements.
Sonia's lyrics are a mixture of humor and pathos delivered in her signature voice and style. Nice mix of acoustic guitar, piano, electronic string arrangements. Excellent! This album will become a favorite of mine.

Rates as one of her best albums
I've got all of Sonia's music and this CD rates as one of the best. I love that she is branching into some different directions and incorporating some blues into her sound. The lyrics are powerful, political and restorative. HIGHLY recommend No Bomb is Smart.

"Ride This Ride" alone is worth the CD price!
All the songs on this CD are absolutely amazing, but "Ride This Ride" alone is worth the CD price! SONiA's gorgeously deep-voiced folky goodness that is "No Bomb is Smart" is guaranteed to groove you.
