Album Notes
Sonido Batido is a jazz trio named for its swirling mixture of jazz, Latin, and funk with flavors of salsa, reggae, bossa nova, samba, son, and guaranco. This Miami-based group of international musicians combines a wealth of experience from diverse genres. Improvising on original compositions and creating unexpected twists in legendary songs and boleros, Sonido Batido attracts an enthusiastic following.
It all started in 2004 by the meeting of musicians from opposite corners of the world in a bar called Churchill's. Since then they have performed steady gigs all around the Miami club circuit in venues such as Tobacco Road, Kitchen 305, Wallflower Gallery, Luna Star Cafe, Toscana, Mosaico, The Food Gang, Literary Cafe, and Archie's.
They were invited to play at Miami's first Fete de la Musique and first Sleepless Night celebration, both inspired by festivals in France.
Sonido Batido consists of Emilio Subdiaz (drums, percussion), Rubén Olvera (bass), and A.J. Khaw (piano, keyboard).
Sonido Batido has just released their first album called “Journey of the Refugee”
It is a collection of 7 original pieces inspired by personal travels and experiences.
This Miami-based trio leads you on an epic journey across rivers, mountains, jungles, and cities filled with Latin rhythms and enchanting melodies.
