ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Their music is synth-heavy with elements of psychedelic and experimental electronic." -hillydilly.com

“Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.”

This grammatically correct sentence describes how bison from the New York city of Buffalo bully (or buffalo) other bison and are in turn themselves, buffaloed.

An abbreviated form of this sentence is the name of this debut EP by Soop.

Soop evolved organically over the course of 2013 between three friends and musicians- Michael Burke (lawyer, lasers, synths and beats), Stacy Gougoulis (vocals) and Mitch Secrett (guitars, beats and mixes). Snippets of songs and ideas sent back and forth, quiet jams in apartments and many tacos became a number of intricate and carefully crafted tunes.

With unique and floral beats combined with cascading synths and reverb-laden guitars, “Buffalo buffalo” is an exploration of electronic indie-pop sound culminating in one epic saxophone solo.

Opening with Ostrich of War- a bundled explosion of tracked vocals, cut up guitar and broken drums, through to the catchy choruses of High High High and Follow the Leader, the EP adventures into thick sonic territory and takes triumphant
endings to a new high.

Recorded and mixed by the band in Melbourne, the EP was mastered by Paul Gold (Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear) and set for release in early 2014.
