ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Soulfood is an a cappella group that offers a diverse menu of motown, soul and retro-pop songs performed in a unique way by a seamless 55 voice ensemble. We audition all year round to fill vacancies as they arise.

Artistic Director Melissa Kenny and other talented choir members have created beautiful and complex arrangements of well loved songs. Songs that are sung a cappella (without instruments) in anything from 5 to 10 part harmony.

Some favourites include I Want You Back (Jackson 5); Signed Sealed Delivered (Stevie Wonder); The Look of Love (Burt Bacharach); How Come You Don't Call Me (Alicia Keys); Careless Whisper (George Michael); Drive My Car (Beatles) and Soul Bossa Nova (Quincy Jones).

Soulfood won the John Lamble Australasian Open Choral Championships in 2009, 2011 and again in 2013, and were finalists in Channel Seven's Battle of the Choirs in 2008.

Our vision, from our first rehearsal in 2004, has always been to balance musical excellence with a strong sense of community and fun. We believe that what sets us apart from other great choirs is that we understand and exude the joy of singing. Singing for us is indeed food for the soul.

Soulfood continues to look for new opportunities to perform our distinct brand of music. We are available for private and corporate functions as well as community festivals, outdoor markets and product launches. We would love you to book us to sing for your event.

We have a wonderful history of growth and development, great gigs, great friendships and great community which culminates, in this our tenth year of singing, with two performances of our Iconic a Cappella show in The Studio of The Sydney Opera House this year
