Album Notes

A unique blend of rock, jazz, funk, blues and even a touch of country, interlaced with jam band musical explorations. Lush vocal harmonies, tasty horn sections, and outstanding soloists. Dedicated to Ethan Crosby, elder brother of David Crosby (Crosby, Stills and Nash) and a long-time player in SoundFarm Band.

The initial recording began at Radio Star in Weed, CA., where we tracked for two days with our core band of Christian Heilman on drums, Richard Lucas on bass, Paul Beck on guitar, Ken Nelson guitar and vocals, and Stefan Shittko on keyboards. Our drummer for this project, Christian Heilman, a superb sound engineer, edited those many takes in his studio in Seattle, and condensed them all into one beautiful core rhythm section ready to add additional tracks to.

At SoundFarm itself (Ken's home), Ken, Richard and Christian then tracked and edited many of the fine contributors such as vocals, horns, electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, flute, percussions etc. Christian Heilman, then added these into the core sound produced from Radio Star Studios.
This album was produced similarly to the studio projects of Steely Dan, where many players were tracked, experimenting with different sounds and qualities, choosing the very best parts to include in the finished songs.
Additional tracks were done by the superb players shown below. An ambitious undertaking that took a few years to complete. We are immensely pleased to present this to the world!

SoundFarm Band began in 1984 with Ken Nelson and Richard Lucas, who met as river guides in the shadows of Mount Shasta, CA, playing acoustic guitar and mandolin in Ken’s yard. His home gradually came to be known as SoundFarm, and over the next 25 years, musicians came to play, jam and create many versions of the band, gigging at numerous venues.
