ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Formed in 2007, the Soundscapes Quintet is pleased to announce the release of their debut album ‘Globaletic’ on the 21st of may @ The Brisbane Jazz Club. Led by versatile pianist and composer Cleon Barraclough, the quintet features Brisbane’s leading instrumental performers. Angular harmonic ideas and strong rhythmic expressions combine to add colour to this dynamic fusion of Jazz, Latin, Classical and Funk styles. Every track is a journey with progressive, modern tones and interactive improvisation. The stand-out solos illuminate each song’s narrative. Recent performances at the Brisbane Jazz Club, The Gold Coast Art’s Centre, the last Valley Jazz Festival and The Brisbane Powerhouse have met with an inspired and enthusiastic response.

"What a pleasure to listen to The Soundscapes Quintet. Cleon Barraclough is a natural both as a pianist and composer of the material for this well matched group of musicians. (Steven Newcomb)
