Sounds of Imani is a graduate of AMTC (Actors Models and Talent for Christ) a Christian organization for actors and talent for Christ to help advance their knowledge in acting and music performances. Sounds of Imani performed in several acting/singing showcases during the AMTC Summer Shine 2016 program in Kissimee, Florida. Carol earned 2nd place as a VIP Choice Finalist at the Grand Finale Awards Banquet for her individual performance cover of "Lord You're Holy" (originally performed by Helen Baylor). Sounds of Imani also appeared in the "Faithtown 2: Real Love" movie/performance project spearheaded by gospel artist Dray Hill supporting the deaf and hard of hearing community.
In April 2016, Sounds of Imani appeared in their first professional stage play by Michael Matthews entitled "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" sharing the stage with Reginal "Bruh-Man" Ballard from the tv show "Martin"; Karl Reid, actor and gospel recording artist of "Commissioned"; and Kene Holiday from the tv show "Matlock". Carol served in the role of Mother Taylor and Gerald appeared in his role as the Old Deacon. The couple are now part of the Prodigal Son Productions team.
Sounds of Imani is also a 2015 Detroit Music Awards nominee, and a Season IV Prayze Factor Award-winning artist in the categories of Praise & Worship Duo/Group and Contemporary Urban Gospel Duo/Group; and earned fifth place in the grand finals as Spotlight Grand Finalist. The Prayze Factor Red Carpet awards ceremony took place on Saturday April 5, 2014 at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown USC - Columbia, South Carolina. In addition, the artist received the Excellence in Christian Music Academy (ECMA) Certificate of Recognition of 2015.
The new debut single "Because of Who You Are" shows more passion in the spiritual genre of contemporary gospel through which the artist has been blessed to display in melodic harmony and instrumental expertise. The single was produced by Michael J. Powell, Gerald & Carol Ervin, and Heaven-Wings Records. Piano instrumentation was provided by Michael Mindingall and Daron Steward; Bass by Darell "Red" Campbell.
