Album Notes
In 2007 Charlie joined The New Rascals with Dino Danelli, Gene Cornish and Bill Pascali formerly with the Vanilla Fudge..
Souza has also performed and recorded with Tom Petty, Greg Almann, The New Cactus Band, White Witch and Gale Force, a rock group on Fantasy Records in Berkely California which was produced by Wayne Henderson of The Jazz Crusaders, Charlie has recorded with the famous American native actor and protest song writer Floyd "Red Crow" Westerman who origionally recorded an album of protest songs in 1970 and finally completed his work in 1978 using Souza on bass guitar on those sessions.(Floyd Westerman plays Jim Morrisons spiritual guide in the movie "The Doors" and also appears in "Dances with Wolves")
Charlie played bass and wrote some of the music as a member of "FORTRESS" on Atlantic Records. The "Hands in the Till" album is being released world wide on Wounded Bird Records in 2008 and a New FORTRESS release "The Treasure Found" is available at iTunes USA!! The original "Hands in the Till" album was produced by Freddie Piro of Ambrosia fame in 1980. Souza also played bass on a rock 'n' soul gospel album on Myrrh Records by Leon Patillo, formerly of Santana.

Charlie recorded another rock 'n' roll gospel album on Polydor Records with the Darrell Mansfield Band from Costa Mesa California. Hallelujah! Souza then teamed up with drummer Bill Lordan, one of the world's finest, who had done several Robin Trower albums and spent some time touring with Sly & The Family Stone! Charlie and Bill then had the opportunity to become a viable rhythm section, recording together in Phoenix, Arizona, on a record produced by French producer Michele Columbier for the vocalist Wendy Evans. You can now hear the team of Charlie Souza and Bill Lordan as a first class rhythm section, joined by guitar virtuoso Eric Turner, Charlie's lifelong friend and partner since their early days together in The Tropics, on this new release "Live Your Dream."

In 1999, Charlie spearheaded the 30-year reunion of the very first band he played in. On May 7, 1999, The Fabulous Tropics played at the St. Petersburg, Florida, Coliseum. It was a benefit for All Children's Hospital. The reunion was a tremendous success and many good friends were reunited in a free-spirited, fun-filled nostalgic evening, reliving the innocence of those wonderful times. This was the beginning of the resurgence of creativity for Charlie and his many talented friends. "LIVE YOUR DREAM!"
In 2001 a New Release for The Charlie Souza Band included a group collaboration CD "9 Ball in the Corner Pocket" ! Only one year after recording "Live Your Dream", the Band, featuring Eric Turner and Bill Lordan, collaborated with Charlie on a new book of nine songs entitled, "9 Ball in the Corner Pocket" Billiards anyone? You have grown as a writer, a musician and your vocals are better than ever. I
Your 2 CDs are an example of your versatility. You have grown as a writer, a musician and your vocals are better than ever. I could not put the CDs down when I got them.

I also enjoyed the Tropics, you guys were such a large part of my teen years. Damn bro, where did all those years go?

I received your CDs, they are wonderful.
I received your CDs, they are wonderful. We are interested in your band for Ribfest, assuming you sound as good live as you do on the CD's.the Tropics are from my high school days here in St. Pete.

Listen to it often!
I love listening to this cd because it has a variety of music and I never become tired of listening to it. My favorite song is "Find My Way Home" which has some incredible percussion. Charlie Souza's songs are adventurous and gives the listener a good taste of rock n roll. Buy this cd! You will not grow tired of it. Each song rocks in a classic and New Way!

"Live Your Dream" The title song is a fantastic catchy West Coast pop/rock flavo
Over the years since Fortress Charlie Souza has worked with many famed artists and put out his own records in the time to, his albums tend to be how can I say, more mature based pop/rock than the AOR treasures of Fortress, but the songs still show a melodic edge and are quite good!

'Live Your Dream' was put out in 2000 and starts with the title track 'Live Your Dream' . This is a fantastic catchy West Coast pop/rock flavored number, this reminds me a little of Tom Petty and Mark Spiro and is a brilliant song. The power pop/rock of 'State Of My Heart' reminds me of Robin Trower and is very catchy with strong guitars and vocals, even a little Rick Springfield in there. 'Don't Cry Wolf' is high tech power pop reminds me of Robert Palmer whilst 'Find Our Way Home' is a looser track like Tom Petty, it's actually quite melodic, very good song. 'Queen Of My Dreams' is another good track, this is very catchy pop/rock with dreamy melodies and some nice keyboards.

'The Rose' is a gorgeous ballad and 'Flyin' Away' complete with it's bird sounds is a more jazzy experimental song, sophisticated like Robin Trower. 'Hold On' is a funky catchy tune again making me think of artists like Robert Palmer. This is a actually a very catchy song, with a big chorus. 'Dark Night' is a big blues based rocker that smolders, again like Robin Trower and also The Jeff Healey Band. The last song 'Mystic Mistress' is a lively affair, a solid catchy pop/rocker and addictive chorus. "Live Your Dream" is a good album and shows that Souza can still perform some great songs.
