Soy Cowboy is one of the most compellingly interesting musical entities on planet earth. They bring back the ethereal essence of magical energy, which has been too often missing from music in the last few years. Guys from California with girls of Chinese descent, the mix is different from before, when the girls were Thai, one of the changes in the 21st century, but the band loses nothing in the cultural trade.
And yet it is still that blend of the American expat sensibilities with Asian influences that give this music its originality. However the band has upped its ante with the new girls: Jennifer Zhang and Deborah Lynn are both professionals and Joe Romersa is back playing drums on the recording as well as his normal duties of singing and engineering. Vince Nicoletti, songwriter, once again on keyboards. Tim Long, recently back from living in Europe, on bass and guitar and Wade Charles XXIII (Charles Polacheck) has returned on world class lead guitars.
Soy Cowboy has come out of cryogenic suspension. Or perhaps aliens kidnapped them and have now returned them to earth. Or maybe they have gone through a musical reincarnation. In any case they have come back to us in the nick of time- to save the world.
