ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Description: REVIEW FROM "ZERO MAGAZINE" DECEMBER 2001
Spacewalkers/Cynyc
Iconoclast
Spacewalkers.com Entertainment/Orange Peal

Two different artists, two different styles. One common city, one great CD. Representing Fremont, up and coming trance producers Spacewalkers have teamed up with artist Cynyc for an eclectic look into electronic dance music. This is a split CD, kind of like when MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice put one out in the early 90s, but this album is sooooo much better. The Spacewalkers half is a good mix of melodic pumpin' trance and hard house.

No cheese, just straight creativity and good production all the way through. Underground worthy as well as radio friendly. The Cynyc side dips into a variety of genres: techno, drum and bass, trip-hop and industrial, all with a dark, experimental edge. If you're looking to support local artists without wasting your money, pick this one up, for both these artists are well worth your $$$.

This split CD features the creative talents of Spacewalkers and Cynyc. Spacewalkers is comprised of R. James and E.J., and together they create some tantalizing dance floor treats that will delight rave regulars everywhere. Their sound is a melding of trance, house, dance, drum & bass, and straight-up electronica with splashings of space age blips and bleeps that add a futuristic feel to the compositions. “Blue Shift” is by far Spacewalkers most creative and inventive piece, which proves that this inventive duo knows no boundaries.

Cynyc is the brainchild of Mike Peaslee. Cynyc’s sound is more experimental than traditional ambient-electronic offerings mainly because Peaslee throws in elements of synth-pop, techno, and a little drum & bass to liven things up. Vocals are also added to give the tunes a more personal feel and enhance the overall atmosphere of the compositions. Both groups are very talented and worth checking out.
