ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hearing Native American Flute in its natural environment is a transcendental experience. The song sweeps its way from the ground and continues through the highest branches of the trees. It appears as if from nowhere and the listener stops to listen unable to pinpoint eactly from where it comes. After the Native American Flute is put down the song still hangs in the air. Stephen Pearson (as Steve Pearson on his Steve Pearson Sampler) with his Native American Flute and improvisational style achieves this affect.

About the Tracks:

Ghosts of the Gallery is his latest CD. The title track of the CD, Ghosts of the Gallery was inspired by a hike to the Great Gallery deep within Horseshoe Canyon in Canyonlands. Pictographs of large ghostly figures loom high above you as if guarding the canyon from the interlopers that you know that you are. His wife,Gerry Pearson, took the photo that is used for the CD and Insert.
Watch the music video "Bach the Wonder Dog Ponders Life" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQnmub8ID84 which features this track.

Flirtation is a snapshot of a smiling, happy, engaging and, yes, flirtatious young woman!

Spring Dance is a high-spirited dance which is a celebration of spring.

Eagle in the Snow evokes the tranquility of these majestic wings gliding through the snow. (See the music video on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLBM30_LYZ8)

And What of the Earth? A question we all ask who cling to her in the face of mounting evidence of global warming.

Torrent is the torrent of water that pours through the
canyons in flash floods. It starts gently and then
rushes through every channel it can find.

Birthday Dance is another fun, toe-tapping dance.

Up on the Cliffs - Who knows what is watching from above as you hike the canyon below.

Summons from the Mist - and what is it that calls from the mist that makes you want to go look?

Harvest Dance - All forboding is forgotten in this dance under the moon.

The Gathering is played on a High Spirits drone flute in Am. It starts off with the single melodic flute gently and
slowly playing a short melody that is used repeatedly
throughout the piece. The drone soon joins it and a
third voice seems to appear also. The third voice is
a harmonic created by the other two parts! So there
you have the Gathering of three voices! They have a
good time and romp around for 13 minutes.

WARNING!!!!! Wild One is about the Eagle and its
encounter with the Wild One. The Eagle is
personified by the flute which is the Night Storm
"Eagle" flute made by Butch Hall. Wild One is a
mysterious animal whose cries can be heard in the
distance at first, gets gradually louder as it
approaches and startles the Eagle who raises a great
cry of its own. The Wild One continues on its way and
recedes in the distance. The Eagle returns to a
tranquil state. He recorded the Wild One (the animal cries) in his backyard at 4 a.m. one morning and then later gave himself one chance to improvise a song to it. What is the Wild One? It is a fox. Why the WARNING? Because
when his dog hears this he goes berserk, runs from
window to window and barks as loudly as he can. No one else has reported this reaction from their dog. Watch "Bach the Wonder Dog Meets the Wild One" at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIVSHHrFu1c which features this track and shows you how a dog might react.

All flutes on this CD were made by Butch Hall with the exception of the drone flute made by High Spirits.
