Chieli never forgets!
I’ve been a Chieli fan for many years. It wasn’t easy learning to love jazz after growing up in the 60’s watching and listening to the great rock musicians of a new era. One of the the things I love about Chieli is that he never forgets to play spacey guitar on every album. The smooth, deep, resonant sounds he creates remind me of early David Gilmour, and some of Alvin Lee’s “A Space In Time” album. It is amazing that Chieli finds interest in it being primarily a jazz guitarist, but he does and I’m grateful! If I had a bunch of music wishes, one of them would have been for Chieli to have been born years earlier and could have brought his gift to the stage during the days of Hendrix, Allman, Lee, Beck, Johnston, Page, and so many others. Chieli could have eaten a lot of them for lunch ! And i could have found some job on the crew to hear him at a time when he would have become the legend that he deserves. His guitar is a gift during difficult times in the music industry, but he continues to shine thru! If you’ve never had the chance, listen to Renaissance and Its Gonna Be Good, because that’s what they both are. God bless Chieli and let his music just keep coming!
