ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Formed in August 1999 by singer songwriter Lewie Docksey as a sideline recording project, Split Sofa have continued to produce strong original songs that would put any professional, working band to shame.

With our own genre called 'SOFA ROCK' influences from bands: Caravan / Gong / Love / The Doors / Kula Shaker / Coldplay / Pink Floyd / The Beatles can be found.

Split Sofa have worked with Mick Strode (Forevermore) on The Day After the Day Before & The Sorcerer's Lullaby albums & John Kemp (ZZ Birmingham blues band) on this latest offering The Gathering.

Martin Gilman (acoustic guitar) joined the band in 2006 & Gareth Williams (Bass & Vocals) joined 2007 both bringing their great style to the fore and giving the band ambience and light.

Joe Nicklin shares the lead Guitar with John Kemp & Mick Strode with Dave Shipley on drums.

2007 saw the band being approached by Japanese radio who asked if they could play a song from the Dark Daze EP. Local radio station Arfm have played songs from various albums on the Paul Baker Soundscapes show & also have had a Sofa afternoon show with Lewie & Gareth being the guests.

The 7th level was recorded and sent out to 80 celebrities. The band did receive replies from prince Charles, William, & Harry, Chris Evans, Rick Stein, Johnny Boden & Jamie Oliver.

2007 also saw Sofa play live at a few festivals and the Night of the Dog festival Tean 2009 and one of the top venues in the Midlands area, The Pokey Hole at Moria.

Aug 2009 TSG media excepted 3 songs off A MYSTICAL REASON to be played in 7,500 of it’s clients' stores and pubs on the high street.
June 2009 saw Sofa take on a project which was called 'operation duvet', which saw the band draw up a publishing package and send out to all the publishing companies in the UK.

The band got some great feedback and are hoping very soon to have have Sofa Rock on a label, because it needs to be done!!
