Album Notes
Spys4Darwin’s debut six-song EP “microfish”, on the band’s own Pied Viper label, is a glimpse into the creative chemistry of a hybrid quartet that features Alice in Chains rhythm section Sean Kinney and Mike Inez, former Queensryche guitarist Chris DeGarmo, and Sponge vocalist Vin Dombroski. The disc features songs pulled from a week of jam sessions recorded in an abandoned paint factory in Seattle, and later embellished at DeGarmo and Kinney’s houses, and mixed at Studio X. From the opening high-octane pulse of Submission in Love, the boys get down to business creating a wide palette of killer tunes featuring Insomnia Station, Dashboard Jesus, Chain Letter, Flood and the EP’s closing track Cold Dead Hands. Produced by the group and mixed by Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Soundgarden), the result is a mixture of crunch-guitar driven, hard-hitting hooks and acoustic subtleties, featuring the edgy punk/pop vocals of Dombroski, mile-wide guitar shower of DeGarmo, and thick-as-cement groove of Kinney and Inez. A full-length album is in the works. *****

I am a big fan of these guys...my boyfriend had the demo before the cd was out. I just kept on saying when are they going to make it into a cd.
When they did I was all excited and bought the cd. I noticed the great changes they did.
They just rip...

Such a roller coaster of sounds and sonic textures. At the surface a heavy, hook laden album, but upon deeper listening it reveals its brilliance. Soaring guitars, intricate rhythms at times and then a straight forward acoustic guitar with soulful lyrics. I have owned this since its release and I am hopeful it will get more 'run' now that it is available again. DeGarmo is a creative force that cannot be contained. Keep it coming, Chris...with QR, Geoff or in whatever other outlet you grace us with.

Alice in Chains is my favorite band. Mike Inez is my favorite bass player. Plus I have been a fan of Chris's since seeing him play with Jerry. So I knew this would be awesome. I can't even describe how much I love these songs. They are beautifully mastered and incredibly moving. Please give us more!!!

Great Music
It never ceases to amaze me, the musicianship and quality of music that comes out if the Pacific Northwest. Here again, musicians from different bands come together and put out an album that rocks from the 1st to the last track. When one is able to hear a song and know that song will be on a favorites list from the first listen, then you have truly, a magical album. Buy this album, you'll be glad you did.

we miss DeGarmo
I'm a big Chris DeGarmo fan, and i like to wikipedia him once a year and see if anything new is out. He's just an amazing unique guitarest. Best part about him is he created his own sound. I had a good laugh the other day when i heard a live track (on sirius) of Jet City Woman with his replacement (Mike Stone) that man totally buthered all DeGarmos licks and solos. I had to turn it off. Its sad to see taht band couldn't find a somewhat decent replacement. But then again sometimes you have to know when to call it quits. This CD is great and i'm glad i just got my copy : )

Not as Good as Queensryche but Interesting
Chris De Garmo was the main musician who broght Queensryche to stardom.
Here he makes step aside. Seatlle sound, grunge riffs but with melodic solos by Chris. I couldn't say you that this record could be compared with Empire or Promised Land, but if you like guitar solos by Chris - you'll like this album.

Love it
I have been looking for this ep for a while now. I had the ep from its first conception. I lost it one day and Have been looking for it. I went to the web site and nothing and went to e bay and the person took the money and never shipped it to me. So I did not go that route again. I will now finally get it now through a legal purchase and I will enjoy the ep again and again this time i will back it up on my computer. lol Buy this ep It is a great combo of musicians and a great buy.

Buy this CD!!!
I'd been looking for this cd for many years and when I heard it was on CD Baby, I placed my order right away. Vin's a phenominal vocalist--he has so much character and passion in his vocal delivery. As with Alice in Chains, Sean and Mike lay down a solid foundation for the songs to come alive and Chris' tasteful but rockin' guitar playing is the icing on the cake. This is an Awesome cd from an All-Star Line-Up!
