Album Notes
Square Circle started in San Diego, California in 1999 as a collaboration between a British drummer, Hip Hop Turntableist, Funk bass player, and a computer nerd keyboardist. Their chemistry was natural and their unique sound was immediately born.

Having opened up for international artists including Depeche Mode and Missing Persons, and winning San Diego Music Awards' "Best Electronic" in 2001 and 2005, Square Circle has continually produced unique and groundbreaking music which crosses between Pop, Rock, Electronic and good-old fashioned Experimental.

Their first album, "Say Hello to Square Circle", was released in 2001 under the Revolt Records label (hopefully here on CD Baby soon) and made the band known as an Electronic, Hip-Hop-ish, quirky favorite among the underground scene. The album was well received, paving way to many fortunate opportunities including licensing for snowboard and skate videos, short films, and television shows.

Mankind is their second release and is more moody and deeper than "Say Hello". Square Circle has fine tuned their songwriting with this album yet still maintained their underground appeal. Much of this evolution can be attributed to the band's loss of a very dear friend's daughter, who passed away at 10 years old. This is blatantly apparent in their song "Please Pray for Emily".

This album features original artwork and a fold out booklet designed for Square Circle by renowned artist Dave Kinsey of BLK/MRKT.

Here is what people are saying:

"Fortunately [Square Circle] strives to bend the rules and rewrite the unwritten laws." (3 1/2 out of 4 stars)
-San Diego Union Tribune, March 29th, 2001

"So much about Say Hello suggests a studio group; that they'd be able to pull it off live seems unlikely. Surprisingly, the brief set ... actually sounded better than the record."
-Scott Batiuk, SLAMM Magazine

"Just when the lackluster of electronic euphoria is at an all out daze it's a relief that among all the noise, fresh sounds of real time drums, deep bass guitar strums, dope turntable skids accompanied with old school quirky electronic sounds of the Moog are making way through ear canals of the world's populace, as the eccentric yet original music making of San Diego based Square Circle are changing the landscape of "down tempo" to another plain."
-Evil Monito Magazine - Issue 008 - Fall 2001 - www.evilmonito.com

"...Square Circle is quickly becoming a hit with fans and radio alike, proving they are anything but a studio band with their amazing live performances..."
-Album Network

"...Square Circle makes solid space-age funk and you should go get some..."
-BPM Magazine

"...Square Circle kicked a**."
-Evil Radio Empire, 2001 with Scapegoat Wax

"Square Circle's arrival on the scene is a very, very welcome bit of electro-invention. " (4 out of 4 stars)
-Troy Johnson, SLAMM Magazine

"This is the sound that you'd think would have come from the Bohemian, subterranean artisans of Europe. A varied sound that further defines this new generation of music-makers."
-Vision Magazine

Insane combination of raw guitars and electronic music. Very original!
When you fist listen to it, it sounds like like something totally new. For once we get a band, who have not copied anyone and have defined their own sound. Very few bands can do this these days!

I have to say these guys are original, a really good quality band that are going to lead us into a new sound and style. Great stuff.

Absolutly amazing.

Electronic Rock with a view....
T.D. has always been a genius in my opinion. This quirky, feel good electro-voco rock effort showcases competent vocal harmony & enchanting orchestrations. Very strong indeed...

Amazing genre-bending piece of work
The album just arrived today and it's very clear that the terms "sophomore slump" are completely foreign to these guys, they bring all types of musical styles to the disc, ranging from Classical to Folk Rock to Ragtime (what 'chall know about My Mickey?)

Excellent job guys, and to anyone who likes this, I implore you to go out and grab their first disc, "Say Hello To...", it's what legends are made of.

Phenomenal Music
Your band has just the right ingredients to make perfect music. There is so much more... sounds from robotics to foreign influences. You can sense the passion! By the way, your proactive management of customers orders...is unlike any other I have experienced. Your note in my CD package was much needed humor that day.
