Krishnasastriyam

by Sreedhar-Murthy

With its delicate melodies, sensitive orchestration and the legendary poet late Devulapalli Krishnasastry's lyrics, this album captures "the golden light born when the old and the new embrace each other." The Hindu calls it a "Lyrical Beauty."

About the Songs:
-----------------------------

Navvante zaabilli mirrors the beauty and depth of a mother’s dreamy joy as she rocks her playful and utterly adoring baby in her lap.

The lullaby Moose nee kanula likens the beauty of a child in the cradle to a lotus swaying gently in the pond and a daffodil dancing in the gentle breeze.

Jaya janani hails the beauteous anthropomorphic form of Mother India as the one bathed in the sweet songs of her teeming millions.

Kadali dari daaka depicts those teeming millions casting away the shackles of subservience during the Salt Satyagraha and marching towards freedom.

Rellu poola panupu portrays the wonderment that characterizes the beginning of spiritual quest – the vague knowledge of the existence of the Truth, the very real knowledge of Its material manifestation, and the nascent desire to apprehend It; Raave praavritkaalama interprets a seeker’s supplication for insight; Tirugaaduchunti tandri depicts the surrender of ego by a seeker who, caught in the storm of ignorance, craves the shelter of divine grace.

O pathika empathetically exhorts those with lofty goals to overcome temporary setbacks, to always remember their hopes and aspirations, and to work for the fulfillment of their mission.
