ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Native American psychedelic southern california folk, jazz, rock, blues, country, soul music."-
That's about the only way to describe Jimmy Stallings album first released in 1969.
Even that is probably leaveing out a style or two.
Recorded under the name: J.J.light(you'll have to ask Stallings about that).
The disk was an underground groundbreaker that has been coveted by collectors all these years. Heya was recorded
Utilizing some of the finest studio musicians in Los Angeles many of which who were the same players from---Phil Spector,Beach Boys and Byrds sessions.
The singer/songwriter took a lifetime of memories growing up in New Mexico and the experiences gathered from a searing stint as the bassist in the Sir Douglas Quintet circa the "Mendocino" years and created a classic collection of songs.
They sound like nothing recorded before or since. This is a testament to the imagination and determination of one flat-out "Musical Maverick".
The history books can go on and on raving about this superstar or that genius But Heya proves none of them can out do "Jimmy Stallings".
This is one compadre ruled by the skies and afraid of nothing! LONG MAY HE SHINE.

Finally I found it!
I'm a little "Musical Guru" to my friends (they say so!) and every half year I was asked for the Original of Heya. In the early 70's it was a great hit and everyone knows it, but don't recognize the artist. Nevertheless I've got now a little piece from my early rock-years and I'm proud to own it!!!!

AWESOME
All the tracks are excellent...Reminds me of Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Dylan. One of the best albums I have bought.

Painter
I knew Jimmy and his wife back in the 90s, Good people, We had some good times, It's been a good 15 years since I had the pleasure hearing his music, I still have a recording that Jimmy did for me, Gypsy Rider, I still ride, and when we get together, be it 1%ers or solo riders, they like that tune. So Jimmy, if you read this, Gypsy Rider is the bomb bro.

Found at last - and it is great!
I have been looking for the Heya LP since I first heard the single many years ago. I had been able to find a couple of singles in Europe but could not track down the LP - that is until I looked up J. Stallings instead of J.J. Light on the internet and discovered CD baby. The CD reissue is not a disappointment and I recommend it to anyone who remembers the single or is a fan of The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band records because of the Bob Markley connection.
PS Delivery to Scotland, UK was fast and efficient so no worries if ordering from Europe!

Heya heya on CD, the dream came true !
I was looking for 15 years to get " J. J. Light " with " Heya, heya " on CD, but now I got it under the name of " Jimmy Stallings " and it is the same version which I heard 35 years ago in the Charts, because it was a great hit in 1970 in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Everybody knows this song, but nobody the ORIGINAL VERSION. Why did it take so much time to publish this song on CD, nobody knows it.......!

Lost in germany, found in the USA
"Hey ya" and "naruka"-this was (little) hits in germany. Now , "heya" singing the soccer-fans in the stadiums, it is now a hymn. Many years ago, me and my friends looking for the Cd of "J.J. Light. The name Jimmy Stallings was unknown in germany. We so very happy. we found the fantastic music, lost in germany. we hear the music 30 years ago: the music is fresh, modern and timeless good.

Good music, bad cover!
Jimmy Stallings (JJ Light for the oldies fans) did a great record. The musics are up to date. I loved then a lot! Long life Jimmy!!!!
The album apresentatio it's too bad!
First: The CD is a CDR! Is it an artesanal issue?
Second: The cover art is very poor, again I ask is it an artesanal issue?
I bought another one to do a gift for a friend, but I'm ashamed to do it!
If this work is a Jimmy personal issue everything is all right, but if it is a company product it is lamentable.
Excuse the criticism, the Music of Jommy always put me on, but this record...
