Album Notes
Two-time Grammy-nominated artist Jody Stecher makes his Appleseed debut with the 1999 release of "Oh The Wind and Rain," a stunning collection of ballads from the British Isles and Appalachia, all done in Jody's inimitable style.

Stecher is one of America's musical treasures, an innovator and masterful interpreter of old-time country, bluegrass, folk and traditional music, equally accomplished on guitar, banjo, fiddle and mandolin, and possessor of an achingly expressive singing voice.

Standout tracks on Stecher's first solo recording since 1977 include a rollicking "Gypsy Davy," an a cappella performance of "Rhinordine," a searing version of "Barbary Allen," and a gorgeous, reinvented remake of his own classic "Oh The Wind and Rain" (made popular by Jerry Garcia), this time played on oud and mandolin. Fans of traditional music on both sides of the ocean will delight in this superb new recording.

Special guests Hank Bradley (fiddle), Larry Hanks(bass vocals), and Kate Brislin (banjo) bring musical spark to these remarkable tales of love and malice. Above all is Jody's remarkable voice, which shines as one of the finest examples of traditional singing we've ever heard. This is an album Jody wanted to make for more than 20 years, and it's certainly been worth the wait.
