ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
For his second, debut album, Stefanosis continues with a theme from the previous one (Kabir). This time, Stefanosis dedicates the entire album to the profound, spiritual poetry of saint Kabir - the mystic from North India who is revered by people of Hindu, Muslim and Sikh faith. Stefanosis purposely chose the English language, not only for practicality, but to give listeners an understanding of this timeless wisdom from the Sufi saint. Listeners who practice Kundalini yoga will recognize the sparse mantras thrown into some tracks. For the most part, the mood of the album is meditative and contemplative, but there are a couple of unexpected surprises. The song "Breath within the Breath" will be the biggest surprise to listeners, since it is anything but meditative ! The first three songs are quite upbeat and "Awareness" is played in a traditional, Turkish style. "I Laugh" is heavily reggae influenced. Songs "The Secret Sound" and "The Swing" feature Oshri Hakak on the hauntingly beautiful Armenian duduk. Nearly all the songs feature Stefanosis' trademark oud and various, ethnic percussion instruments, in addition to some minimal keyboard. For those who appreciate all mystic poets - such as Rumi and Hafiz - this album will resonate directly, bringing spiritual inspiration just like it did for Stefanosis. Prepare to listen, in the deepest way. Kabir Says...
