ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Once again, Stefanosis pulls from the collection of Kundalini yoga mantras in the Gurmukhi language of Northern India. "Ong Kar Nirankar" translates to "The form of god and the formless god". This mantra is meant to bring union (yog) from separation (samsara). Although Kundalini mantras are interpreted by many artists, Stefanosis wanted to use a different approach by making this mantra in a classic call-and-response kirtan style. The result is a mantra that sounds very traditional and modern at the same time, with a choir repeating lines after Stefanosis. This song also features the instrument Stefanosis loves to play most these days - the Turkish, Cumbus Guitar - which sounds like a cross between a banjo and an oud, because that's basically what it is. This mantra is just over 8 minutes long, making it perfect to chant along with in a Kundalini yoga class.
