ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This devotional song comes directly from the Sikh faith tradition, which has influenced Stefanosis through the practice of mantra recitation and Kundalini Yoga. In a bout of inspiration at 5:00am, Stefanosis grabbed his phone and recorded his singing of the line from the holy book Japji Sahib: "Nanak Bhagta Sada Vigas, Sunieh Dukh Pap Kanas", which translates to "Nanak says: those, who meditate on God's Name, are ever seen in bliss; beause by hearing His praises, all their sufferings and sins are annulled." These lyrics are in the Gurmukhi language - holy to Sikhs. Recording the song the same day (when inspiration hits, it's best not to delay !), Stefanosis used a classic tabla loop with tanpura drone, which is standard in East Indian music. Along with a bass, Thai Phin, oud, and reed flute, the song has a feel that's not typical. Taking another line from the holy book Ardas: "Nanak Naam, Cherdi Kala, Tere Baneh Sarbat Da Bala", creates the hook of the song. Sikhs and practitioners of Kundalini Yoga will notice these lines immediately. It is the hope of Stefanosis that listeners will be as inspired by this sacred sound-current as he was by creating it.
