Album Notes
30 years ago I bought a record by Dizzy Gillespie for $3.20
called “Portrait of Jenny”. The cover showed a black
and white photograph of a beautiful young woman and
a tree. The liner notes said; “Jenny represents the roots...
the tree...the leaves of a dream..a dignity...a pride...
a frustration.........”
The music, the words and the artwork were one. It was a
perfect conceptual album. And it was an inspiration
that lasted over the years. Finally I decided to try my own
contemporary “Portrait of Jenny” .... – Her Song.

"The sophisticated arrangement and instrumentation of appealing compositions draw the listener from the very beginning in its spell, the music calls for attention that , because of their mystic aura over the entire length, is easily granted.
The interspersed vocal numbers provide variety, the overall mood is almost meditative, only the song "War & Peace" falls due to its hard guitar riffs out of the frame. Perhaps you need a few passes to discover the beauty of this album, but once the listener has gained acess, he will find a world in which he will love to get lost in." ( hifitest.de- Ralf Henke)
