The soundtrack had to evoke many different emotions from despair to hope, terror to relief as well as "traditional" Mayan music. I asked myself - what could their music have sounded like thousands of years ago? I then saw a documentary where an archeologist had found a painted mural on the wall of a Mayan temple that depicted an orchestra - several players with long horns, a variety of flutes and endless drums. This was the inspiration which led to the score for the planetarium production "2012: Prophecy of Doom?" It is an interpretation of the past with a decidedly modern electronic twist.
