Album Notes
Honey Bee started off as an instrumental warm-up number for my fingers. The lyrics developed into a happy affirmation of the joy found in togetherness. This contrasts with the pained plea for forgiveness in Angelina which opened my first CD, Good Roads and Good Weather. Miss Me came from a deliberate use of a modern (and frequently used) chord sequence as a challenge to come up with a unique melody for the same four chords. Number Three was the direct result of my interest in the saying from Santayana, "Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it." I Gotta Go is for the Veterans of our Armed Services. Valencia Special is actually a prelude to Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler. Both are in the Zydeco style of SW Louisiana. Inspired by Evangeline Special as performed by Jo-El Sonnier. Look him up on youtube. Dying Love is just like it sounds, but with a spark of hope. Drinking Problem is totally fictional except that in my years of performing in bars, I have seen many individuals play out the lyrics in their own way. Long, Long Road is an extension of Drinking Problem, taken to its logical extreme. Early Morning Polka got some airplay on a number of Polka radio shows as a single, thanks to the fine promotional efforts of my wife, Marilyn. It appears here for those who may not normally tune in to such shows. My soon-to-be-released Christmas Favorites CD features Jingle Bell Polka just in case you may have cought the Polka bug, as I surely have. It's Black was my response to a music library's call for "a song that mentions the color black." Unfortunately it was not chosen for the ad. It could be I took them too literally, but I had great fun doing it. Satisfy Me started as an early experiment with the new palette of sounds in my Mac Mini. Imagine a robot from another planet landing on earth in search for "satisfaction" while, being a robot, not knowing what satisfaction is. Yes, that is my voice transformed through the magic of the Mac.

Now you have my thoughts on the songs. What are yours? I'm always happy to hear from my listeners. I'd love to hear from you. dockendorf2000@yahoo.com.
