Album Notes
"Light Turns to Day"

“American roots music, compellingly honest, beautifully crafted and fully realized songs that are just really good stuff!” —Dennis McNally, Grateful Dead Publicist

Steven Graves has a knack for authenticity in artistry. His insight into the spiritual and emotional condition of being a human being shine through in "Light Turns to Day." The song is a sneak peek into his upcoming new album, Captain Soul.

"Light Turns to Day" is a Santana-like rock-flavored tune that introduces one of the main lyrical themes present through much of Captain Soul; coming to terms with the dark side of ourselves and our external world. The song reflects a theme of reconciliation and finding the light for a positive outlook on life!

There is a spiritualism that permeates through his compositions as his artistry and style strive to create a social awareness and commentary that is unique in today’s rock and Americana genres.

Graves has worked closely with grassroots organizations helping Native American communities for several years and also nominated for a Native America Music Award in 2012.

With the guidance of musical advocate Dennis McNally, (Grateful Dead,) Graves and his band have sparked an ever-growing presence in the Grateful Dead and Jam Band circles.
