Album Notes
Blending poetic introspective lyrics with sixties inspired musical arrangements and lush vocal harmonies, Steven Mark released his first cd, DISTRACTION, in the summer of 2004. It was named one of the finest recordings of the year by Hybrid Magazine. He followed that up in 2005 with the release of ALONEAPHOBE, a bittersweet chronicle of relationships. From there, he and his band went on to produce 2007’s RACING GREY. His latest album, ONE SMALL ROOM, features his most stripped down and intimate work to date. Born and raised in Chicago, Steven Mark currently lives and performs in New York City. His music has appeared in Real World Hollywood and the film Long Term Relationship.

I’ve never written a review before but I felt compelled to write one now. A friend described this album as one to listen to while mellowing out, and he’s right. But there’s more to it than that. The vocals are reminiscient of James Taylor, but there’s more depth to Steven Mark's vocal range than JT’s. Track 3—Mystic Air is my favorite. The piano is lush and the uptempo in the chorus elevates the track.

Really enjoyed the CD, especially the cover of 'The Logical Song'. The album has a 60s feel, reminds me of The Beatles! =)

great album, really enjoyed it. felt like something a lot of people could relate to.
