by Stevenn Beck

"Hero" is an original retro folk-rock song: introspective, tuneful, memorable... hummable…and the subject of the song is someone I loved who battled great pain and a relentless physical decline while remaining positive. She was my hero...

Album Notes
Stevenn Beck (a member of the "Sixties generation") was born in Brooklyn NY, lives in New York City, and has been writing music for more than 30 years. His influences include Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, Jim Croce and Neil Young. He has performed at "Open Mike" concerts as well as on the streets of the Village, Washington Square Park, etc. Retired from his day job, Stevenn is now writing his brand of "retro folk-rock" music full-time as well as polishing his guitar skills in preparation for an anticipated return to performing.

Stevenn is also an actor and writer, with credits in several small movies as well as in community theatre, and publishes his own music and writing blog once or twice a week at He was recently cast in the role of Vernon Trout - driving instructor - in the upcoming Indie movie "By The Dashboard Light".

A creative and passionate person who worked for years as a manager of an office that helped the poor and disabled, Stevenn has self-produced his first four digital CDS ("Double N", " In Retrospect", "Stony Brook" - and most recently "December's Children". He is very excited to see his music (a mix of autobiographical and topical material, some of which dates back to the seventies) now available online and accessible to others. The songs feature interesting and accessible melodies while dealing with universal themes such as loneliness, isolation, greed, insensitivity and unrequited love.

Stevenn asks that any song enjoyed by a listener be shared with others so that a wider audience can be reached.
