Album Notes
One day in Feb 2013 while vacuuming and listening to Elvis Presley's "Aloha From Hawaii, Via Satellite" through isolation headphones I started to caterwaul along with The King at the top of my voice. For as long as I can remember I've always had at least one Elvis song in my performing repertoire but until that moment I had no idea how good it felt to sing those songs with him. From that epiphany until the album was completed in 2015 I amassed the vast majority of Elvis' albums from all periods and listened to little else during the years I created Green Velvis. It's something I like to call "deep immersion" and I am currently doing the same with The Bee Gees for a release in late 2016 or early 2017. I love and respect Elvis and believe him to be the most influential musician of our generation. I hope I was able to do him some justice while at the same time making the material my own. It was truly a work of love and the experience has helped me to become a better composer and musician. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thank you Elvis, you will always live on in our hearts. Thank you TCB Band, Jordanaires, and The Sweet Inspirations. Thank you drummer Ronnie Tutt. It was so wonderful to immerse myself in your drumming style (There is so much joy in your playing!). You are all truly amazing and beautiful people and you have enriched my life.
