Album Notes
I'm currently working on a full length (likely15 song plus Bee Gees tribute album). While dancing to Hello by Adele with my daughter recently at a daddy-daughter dance it was only natural to sing along in the piercing Barry Gibb falsetto I've been honing for months. During the dance I felt the song, as it was, wasn't exactly a dance number but that it could be! As fate would have it a cover song contest sponsored by CDBaby came along and "Hello" was one of the songs that could be used to enter the contest. I set to work by increasing the tempo of Hello to disco territory and laying down the Rhodes part. I then wrote a funk bass part on keyboard, recorded the drums, rerecorded the bass with a 5 string bass guitar, and sang the five vocal parts. I added waka-wah-wah guitar and a tambourine at the end to give the repeated chorus a boost. I hope that you enjoy my disco version of Hello. I had an absolute blast recording it! I love Adele, Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb and have only the utmost respect for them. There will never be another Bee Gees or another Barry Gibb and I express will all my heart how thankful I am for them. When recording a tribute album I go into what I call full immersion mode. I have listened and sang along to Bee Gees records every day for the last 8 months. I own every recording and am in complete and utter awe of their songwriting and singing abilities. Every album has at least one song that overcomes me with emotion (every time I listen). Much love to you Barry Gibb, and to you as well my wonderful listener. Sincerely, Steve P.S.
