Life Down Here on Earth

by Steve Robinson

An eclectic tour de force from the opening country rocker to the final jazz finish with trips to New Orleans, the Texas border country, and Motown.. A celebration of life's high and lows. Steve cannot write a bad song and his four covers are spectacular.

Album Notes
Steve is an award winning singer/songwriter/guitarist. He is backed by artists such as Wings drummer Steve Holley, Levon Helm's horn-men Steve Bernstein and Eric Lawrence, jazzman extraordinaire Clark Gayton, Jeff Scroggins of Colorado, and pedal steel virtuoso John Widgren who has played with everyone from Martina McBride and Toby Keith to the Boston Pops Orchestra.
This has been a labor of love, three years in the making, produced by Tom Griffith and engineered and mixed by Grammy award winner Bob Stander.
The ten originals are each superb examples of the multiple genres that Steve writes and the 4 cover tunes are spectacular arrangements. The theme is set by the opening up-tempo Kevin Welch/Gary Scruggs number 'Life Down Here On Earth'. The entire effort combines absolute rockers like Guy Clark's "Texas Cookin"' and Sonny Curtis' 'Walk Right Back' (a punched up version of the Everly Brothers hit), dark blues ('Old John' and 'Sandy'), Mavericks inspired Latin rhythm ('The Dance'), R&B (Every Lonely Night), a taste of New Orleans (Tryin' To Get To New Orleans), the laid back sounds of 'Easy Come Easy Go', the sweet melancholy of 'Gone' and 'Gentle Hearts', and the jazzy Toots Thielemans sound of 'Going Home' to finish off. This is a truly a tour de force examination of the highs, lows, and in-betweens of life down here on earth
