ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
New York singer/songwriter, bass player Steve Volkmann performs original songs that tell stories from his experiences in daily life. Inspired by the music he grew up listening to in the 70’s and 80’s, he picked up the guitar and electric bass and soon began playing in original rock n’ roll bands in the Boston, MA and Providence, RI areas. Steve moved to New York City ten years ago and currently focuses on playing acoustic bass and writing new songs.
Steve draws on songwriting influences such as Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Warren Zevon, Elvis Costello, Mark Knopfler, Lou Reed and Van Morrison for their ability to capture the human side of life. His songs don’t necessarily aim to offer a solution, but rather point out an observation or situation. Bass influences include; Jack Bruce, Phil Lesh, John Entwistle, Jack Casady Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten to name a few!
Steve just recorded his first solo ep, I Never Knew, release date, February 2014. This record features Steve playing and singing some of his new songs.
Steve plays a Martin acoustic bass along with Fender and Tobias electric basses. He uses MXR and Boss effects pedals and Galiien Krueger amplifiers.
