Album Notes
Str8 Business A.K.A Str8 B.I. is the most prolific individual with words since the late great Biggie Smalls, is the best way to describe this Far Rockaway, Queens New York native. Str8 B.I. is a high school dropout with a very unusual high IQ for a kid raised in Far Rockaway’s Edgemere Projects. The youngest of 4 raised by a single mother, a boy can find a lot to get into or a lot of things will try to get to him either of which should happen first it’s definitely suspenseful digging into the twisted tales and ideologies of this ghetto “Edgar Allan Poe “ to say the least.

Cops, Wave Get Their Man
McDonald’s Shooter Caught by CRIMESTOPPER Tip
By Joan Ward George
Spencer Preston, who was the subject of a recent "Most Wanted" column in The Wave was apprehended by Detective Savine of the 100 Precinct Detective Squad last weekend thanks to a tip received by CRIMESTOPPERS.

Born Spencer Preston August 14, 1978 in Southeast Queens, Str8 moved to Far Rockaway at the tender age of 7. After losing his oldest brother to the drug and street violence that engulfed Southside Jamaica Queens in the late 1980’s. STR8 adapted to the projects that raised him, all momma’s hard work and tutoring became a game of Rubik Cube for the youngest of the Preston Boyz. Str8 attended Beach Channel High School and quickly learned to react to his environment first and ask questions later.
The Fast life hardly explains a young individual living in light years raised in Far Rockaway’s aggressive streets. Losing family and friends has become so much of the norm, that there’s no more tears or regrets this young gun is only left numb to deal with his harsh realities.
After losing his right hand man while incarcerated, his partner from the grind “Bob low” R.I.P. Str8 decided to take his life down a more promising path and put his I.Q. to better use, as he finally signed to his older brother’s record label Life or Death Entertainment to provide a more lucrative future for his daughter “Shyasia” and put his mother’s worries to rest that she might lose yet another son to life’s tragedies.
The name Str8 Business came from a saying that my click the Real Young Gunz used to say. It’s also the way I moved no matter where the location. My influences include Biggie, Jay-z and Nas. I plan to bring realness and originality to the game, not sounding like anyone that has ever picked up the mic has been my main focus from day one. I am also part of a group called Tier3 that was formed during my incarceration. A Tier3 is the worst disciplinary ticket you can get and it carries automatic box time, which perfectly describes our raw paintings of words used to bring the paper and pen into 3D much more than a movie could do in the 21st century.
A sample of Str8’s lyrical wizardry is easily grasped from any of his lyrics, but a favorite of mines is from a song titled “Put it Up” from his debut album “ King of the Game” where he paints a day and life in the world of hustling and survival in Far Rockaway’s Notorious Streets.
“Hundred gram choppin flip that /fuck hundred grand shoppin/them jakes in a tan van watchin/that cake got your mans, man clockin/when it comes to heat you like stand van watchin/you in a coop you lyin/ the a/c don’t work in the hoop you fryin/ I’m on the stoop supplyin/ Niggas Cross then we crucifyem/ It’s the LORDZ! - By 2face
