Album Notes
Struggle in the Hive formed when Nigel Jeffrey (Radical Turf, Konrad) approached B Patric (Futureappletree, the Marlboro Chorus) about recording a few songs. Before long, they were collaborating and getting together once a week to record. Written in the studio, with ideas formed through interaction and experiment, this LP is the product of a year-long effort.
Decidedly downbeat, the LP features primarily acoustic instruments, and was recorded on 8-track tape, with an ear toward simplicity and limitation. What results is an airy, intimate collection of songs dealing primarily with the human condition, our relationships with ourselves, and with each other...and our greater struggle.

Turning the hopeless and desperate in to the beautiful and inspired, Struggle In The Hive weaves a head-turning composite of minimalist, somber indie acoustic pop. Some might hear Beatles influences in places, others will testify that it's emo lo-fi to the core, and still others will focus on the stripped down naked musical ideas that somehow manage to come across with incredible sustenance and substance but at the heart of it, their self-titled album is simply intoxicating and quietly thrilling.
