ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
New Car Smell by Stu and The Gurus is an eclectic mix of clever songwriting, humor, and twang, infused with incredibly original harmonica playing.

Running the gamut between Americana and Blues, New Car Smell by Stu and The Gurus is a tour de force of songwriting and musicianship. Featuring Stu’s vocals and harmonica, the album also showcases the talents of an outstanding assemblage of musicians.

The production qualities of this
recording are excellent, and we encourage
listening to it at a robust volume.

THE SONGS:
Tropical Depression (Blues): A humorous meteorology lesson and advice on pet care.
Mars and Venus (Americana): A too-true assessment of the communication disconnect between the sexes.
Everything Is Really Fine Here (Alternative): A postcard from the edge.
There She Was (Americana): Trailer park love song.
New Car Smell (Surf): One man’s search for the ideal woman.
Kung Fooey: Harmonica-based spaghetti-Western soundtrack.
Politician (Blues): A cappella about a self-serving public servant.

THE MUSICIANS:
Stu Skaroff, the creator of Stu and The Gurus, is the band’s songwriter, singer, harmonica player and visionary. Stu’s focus is on writing and performing songs that are very entertaining. Check out his innovative harmonica playing on Mars and Venus, Everything Is Really Fine Here, Ice Cream and Cake, There She Was, and Kung Fooey.
Millard Brown is the band’s brilliant and talented producer and guitarist. He is the force that herds these awesome cats! Check out his solos on Tropical Depression, New Car Smell, and Kung Fooey.
Mark Huss is the band’s other guitarist. He’s a monster! Listen, for instance, to what he does at the end of Kung Fooey. OMG!
Charlie Kennedy, our superb keyboard player, always seems to know exactly what to add to every composition.
Peter Hayes is our pedal steel and dobro virtuoso, providing eloquent solos and twangy embellishment.
Bill Hyatt is our bass player. A great talent and a real natural.
Ed Kramer is our banjo wizard. He adds just the right touch to Everything Is Really Fine Here.
Pam Graboyes, our percussionist, adds her special musical seasoning to the mix.
Mike Governa, our drummer. Really solid, knowledgeable, and versatile.
Kristin Lauer plays awesome French horn on Everything Is Really Fine Here, and great trumpet on Ice Cream and Cake.
Erik Scattareggia is our excellent recording engineer and he adds additional percussion on the CD.
