ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
X-Tet is a group of Southern Californians who dress in black and stay up past 10:00 p.m. playing jazz tunes written in the latter part of the 20th century by junkies, drunks and regular folks like yourselves. X-Tet members Joe Kurpell on guitar, Isidro Yanez on saxophones, Joe Gram on bass, and Glenn Cantello on drums, are all musical geniuses, of course. We play a lot of clubs and restaurants, so we insert subliminal messages in our music to make audiences feel sexy and order dessert.

Our singer, Stu Carey has a rich and powerful voice (Donald Trump meets Johnny Hartman), but is much too hairy for those low-cut evening gowns often associated with jazz singers (Diana Krall meets King Kong).

Momentum contains 5 real songs and 7 songs we just made up. Think stirred martinis and red silk on a dirt floor south of some border and you'll have an inkling of what this CD is about. One unbiased critic, Joe's mother, said, "This is much better than that other CD you gave me (Miles Davis--Kind of Blue)."
