ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
As Hip-Hop began to emerge from the undergound, and show it's face to the entire world, it was then when SUBCONSCIOUS decided he wanted to be a part of the movement. He grew up listening to Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Juice Crew, Grandmaster Flash, Special Ed, Souls Of Mischeif, Eric B and Rakim, just to name a few. These were the first artists that sparked inspiration in the heart of SUBCONSCIOUS.

SUBCONSCIOUS earned his respect by battling kids just for fun, when he was told countless times that he needed to put out an album. It was the mid-90's when SUBCONSCIOUS began writing, but it wasn't until the later 90's when he started recording. He would record and be featured on mix cd's, but it wasn't until 2003 when he and his group put out their first promo cd.

The time has finally come, the debut solo album from SUBCONSCIOUS, Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover. The production consists of some of the most talented underground artists in the industry. Some of the names include Aaron Ladley and JoBu, two producers that should not be overlooked.

The album has a lot to offer. The songs range everywhere from party joints, to battle tracks, to sentimental songs. For whatever mood you might be in, there is a song on this album that will feed the needs of the true hip-hop listener.

Cop This CD NOW
If you know shit and like hip hop cop the cd. Wide range of topics. Not only shitting on you but an ode to his pops, a clousure on a past relationship and a humorous track on how stupid radio "hip hop" sounds (The beat is nice) . You should enjoy from the 1st to the last track..... I think his next cd is going to be ill as well, seeing that Aarron Ladley, and JoBu are producing the whole thing.....But for now buy and listen to this one.

The Criteria for Realness in the Hip-Hop Underground
After hearing Subcon’s “Dear Dad,” I immediately recognized him as a real hip-hopper: Not someone doing it for money or fame, but someone doing it for love, and ultimately, because he needs to; someone who embraces the culture of hip-hop and wants to contribute to its message and meaning. If all those pop fans can’t understand that, perhaps they need to reevaluate their criteria for realness.

“Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover” is the perfect example how Subconscious has chosen and is able to break away from the mainstream repetition we are all tired of. This is something original.

A truly diversified album, Don't Judge A Book by It's Cover is off the chain!!!
Subconscious comes strong with numerous styles. His delivery is truly unique, and his word play is intellectual. He'll carry a beat with sick flows, freestyle with ease, and battle any sucka MC. Real underground Hip-Hop, MC Subconscious is the next big thing, you really can't Judge A Book By It's Cover.
