Sue Matthews: Live at the Mainstay
I've been a Sue Matthews fan for years after hearing her first record. Since then, I've been on her mailing list and look forward to each new release.

None have disappointed, and this record was no exception. Sue sings with clarity and passion that makes her voice a unique listening experience. Her bandmates further enhance the joy of the recording.

I've long regretted that Sue primarily gigs in the DC, Maryland area because I've never gotten to see her live. This record just whets my appetite further to see her in person because the voice quality and joy in singing shines through in her performance. The additional studio tracks were icing on a very sweet musical cake!

like being there
I heard a couple of tracks from this album on the radio and had to get a copy. If you've ever sat in a club and felt transported by the music, then you will appreciate this album. It captures the spark and intimacy of the live setting. The two guitars and vocal complement one another wonderfully and discover delightful nuances in these standards.

beautiful stuff
Bravo! Super idea to have this wonderful trio-- plus a few duets with each. If familiar standards for the most part, I appreciate including Stevie
Wonder's 'If It's Magic' too, and very effective
versions of the others, including 'Hello Young Lovers'-- rarely done in this intimate setting &
the others. The guitars are sophisticated and
just as interesting as Matthews's voice. Fine
set of intimate jazz vocals.
