ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Welcome to Urban Latin Soul, the second exceptional work of UK artist Sunlightsquare.
As the title states as clear as day, this new album is a celebration of latin and soul music as perceived and elaborated by various West Indian, British, Italian and other international artists immersed today in the London jazz scene.

Urban Latin Soul is a deep breath of fresh air and it brings a significant evolution to its predecessor \"Urban Sessions\" by adding reggaeton & salsa to the equation, exploring the new territories of caribbean music and daring to fit funk and trip hop into the scenario...

\"Adventurous throughout, it’s worth supporting this home-grown label and some genuine UK real jazz output\" says Blues & Soul magazine. Undoubtably, the large number of musicians appearing on this recording tells the long story of collaboration, inspiration and experimentation around Sunlightsquare... Here are a few names: vocalists Joy Malcolm (Moby), Z-Star (Slow Train Soul), Tasita D\'Mour (Kyoto Jazz Massive, Reel People), percussionist Giovanni Imparato (Richie Havens, Paco De Lucia, Chico Buarque), drummers Nikolaj Bjerre (Lamb) and Cristiano Micalizzi (Ben Sidran, Stefano Di Battista), Quentin Collins (Basement Jaxx, Craig David) and saxophonist Aaron Liddard (Amy Winehouse).

You can relax your mind to the luscious grooves, the soulful vocals and the jazz soloing on Urban Latin Soul as the beat gradually builds from sparse to dense, surprising to memorable, groovy to experimental in a 54 minutes of exciting sonic adventure.

Wrapping up the album, two bonus remixes of \"\"Amuyada\"\" from French/Brazilian DJ Mustafa\' and south London breakbeat whiz LouiSubsole. Now you can start dancing.\"
