Myk ~ a 19 year old music fan from the UK

One of my favourite jazz cds. Traditional, yet completely unique.
Being both a fan of jazz and music from the far east it was only a matter of time before I came across amazing bands like PE'Z and Tokyo Jihen.
I stumbed upon Sun Ship by accident while browsing Myspace, and instantly fell in love with the title track Hot Waltz. Everything on this CD is so perfect, the smooth sax, the piano which floats over the songs, creating the mood, the bass which gets your foot tapping and the drums which dance around the symbols and toms so elegantly.
I have to say with some jazz I tend to have to be in the mood to listen to it, especially if it is more self-indulgent with random improvised tangents, however, Hot Waltz has songs for EVERY mood and occasion, and what is even greater is that it's all VERY catchy, even the random tangents.
At times upbeat, at others, soothing, I like nothing more than to listen to this CD through headphones while walking around the city at night, taking in the sights.
This is a wonderful CD by an amazing band who deserve more recognition for their incredible talents as musicians and composers.
If you like more traditional style jazz thats unique and catchy, I highly recommend this CD.
