Album Notes
Susan T. Mashiyama is a harp player from the Bay Area who hopes her music will help bring a little more peace and happiness into the world. One of the biggest gifts to her is when people hear her music and respond by slowing down, listening, and focusing on the music. It's so easy to be distracted these days, and she thinks music is so important to being human. She has been playing music and singing for just about as long as she can remember and music has always been a huge part of her life. She remembers as a child, she would go outside and dance and sing to the trees the melodies that would come into her head, and it would seem that the trees were singing back to her. Later, she was trained classically in piano and violin, but it wasn’t until she got her harp, and found that she loved the sounds that she could make together with it, that she really wanted to share her music with more people. She hopes others can feel some of the different emotions—happiness, sadness, and other emotions like love—that she feels when she plays this music and, like her, see the stories happening in the songs as the music is played.
