ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Susie Hurley has a very deep love of music, it’s not just her passion - it is her life.
Her Mission is to create music that reflects her inner experiences in an authentic and original way.
Music has always been there for her - from the early mother-daughter piano duets, to performances at Newtown Performing Arts High, including many gigs as a seasoned performer, and countless adventures across the globe with music.
Susie is known for her soulful voice, and as a gifted guitarist/pianist. Some of her music has been featured on Triple J, revealing the many influences on her career in music, most notably Joni Mitchell. Her unique music takes inspiration from genres such as folk, pop, country and a hint of jazz.
Her lyrical contemplations, beautifully spun melodies and foot-tapping rhapsodies of percussion and bass instantly tell the listener “this is new.” Combining shoe-shifting beats with a melancholy Celtic influence, Susie’s hauntingly resonant voice packs out venues in her home town, Sydney.
Over the years, she has created many a collaboration. Most notably “The Hurricanes” bringing to their fans a maelstrom of sorrowful reflections and through-the-looking-glass imaginings. And “Night Kite” - a soul, gospel, folk group with a focus on intricate vocal harmonies, body and vocal percussion, and simple instrumentation.
2017 saw Susie graduate from AIM (The Australian Institute of Music) with her Bachelor of Music, majoring in Voice. It was here that she honed her songwriting skills and further solidified her passion for writing original music.
As of April 2019, Susie is working on the creation of her album. This is an album that is bringing new life to Susie’s creativity through her thoughtful, delicate lyrics. On this album, she plays the piano, which is a return to her roots; this is where she first started. Production, with Brian Campeau at the helm, is ongoing as she composes and arranges the music. Brian is widely regarded as one of the most confounding and creative artists working in Australia today and lends many years of industry experience to this collaboration. The first single “Unbroken” will be released in September.
