Album Notes
The brainchild of pianist John Colianni and vocalist Maggie Worsdale, Sweet Whiskey brings together guitarist Nick Russo, bassist James Cammack to tantalize audiences with a true variety of sound that is designed to appeal to the music lover and casual listener alike.

Pianist and cofounder of Sweet Whiskey, John Colianni has been a force on the music scene since first working with famed bandleader and vibraphonist Lionel Hampton for three years, at the tender age of 19, as Hampton’s band pianist. Add five years and six albums as Mel Torme’s personal accompanist and then being chosen by guitar legend Les Paul to become a part of the Les Paul Quartet and you have an idea of what John brings to the table with musical chops – and that just happens to be his nickname “Johnny Chops.” In the words of Mel Torme, “he’s the best you’ll ever hear.”

Sweet Whiskey’s other cofounder, vocalist Maggie Worsdale has performed nationally and internationally, and while in California in the early 1990’s had the pleasure of working with Bob Hope and George Burns, as well as guest singing with Les Brown and his Band of Renown. Maggie has recorded four albums of her own and was chosen as one of the top ten vocalists in the NY/NJ area and honored to perform at the 2009 and 2010 Sinatra Birthday Bash at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ. According to Bob Hope, “there’s one word for this gal – wonderful.”

Nick Russo, also regular guitarist and banjoist for Grammy winning 20’s and 30’s style band Vince Giordano and the Night Hawks brings a remarkable versatility to Sweet Whiskey. Author of a book about heavy metal band Metallica, Nick can also be heard as a Broadway pit musician and has played in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Bluenote, Birdland and internationally.

Bassist, James Cammack has toured nationally and internationally as bassist for legendary pianist Ahmad Jamal from 1984-2010. James has also worked with vocalists Nancy Wilson and Dee Dee Bridgewater. While in the Army, James was a member of the West Point Jazz Band. When he lived in Chicago, he was nicknamed “the Chicago Fire” by reviewer Richard Johnston for his hard driving, creative approach.
