Sarah Wilkins, a native of North Canton, Ohio began studying voice at the age of twelve. After graduating from high school, Sarah won various scholarships to attend Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in opera performance in 1986.
Through out high school and college, Sarah was involved in a variety of music projects including numerous bands that toured N.E. Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and New York in the mid-eighties. Her influences in the past have been female vocalists such as Joan Baez, Cher, Grace Slick and Pat Benetar.
Hired as a flight attendant by USAirways in 1987, Sarah spent time traveling and seeing the world. She never forgot her musical roots and her life took a recent turn when she met producer Scott Talarico at a garage sale. In January 2001,Talarico who also bought the house across the street from her and is now her neighbor, introduced her to guitarist and now musical partner John Craig.
Sarah had recently had a re-commitment to her faith and wanted to write and perform original contemporary Christian music. John Craig also shared the same interest and a great partnership was formed.
John Craig is known in the Pittsburgh area as a groove style guitar player and bass player. He is a graduate of Robert Morris College and has spent the last ten plus years playing in different clubs and theatres in the Pittsburgh area. He was a runner up in the Pittsburgh Guitar Wars Contest in the early 90's.
Sarah and John are both on the music team of St. Stephen's Church in Sewickley, Pa. Together with producer Scott Talarico they have created a whole new original sound of progressive acoustic music with an edge of spiritual awareness and truth from the Gospel.
Their most recent media collaboration was with New York free-lance producer Dale McCausland on a Christmas special for the local cable access channel. In addition, Sarah hosts her own aerobics show on local cable access called "Stay Fit with Sarah." She was also recently chosen to be the voice of commercial endorsement for national company "Miracle II."
On the concert circuit, Sarah and John have played over 50 shows since the beginning of 2002 and recently fronted the WINGS Praise Band in Pittsburgh's largest CCM event of the year. The Pittsburgh "Show of Shows," combined the top five Christian bands in the area as well as national recording artists "Apologetix." They also were the headliners at Teen Challenge Community Days and participated in the GODSTOCK Acoustic/Band Spring Event.
Their debut CD "Hope and A Future," which was just released in May 2002 is already receiving air play on three area radio stations in Western Pennsylvania. "Hope and A Future" is available in area stores and also at their official website- www.sarahewilkins.com.
This acoustic duo is creating a buzz in the Pittsburgh area with their original song writing and new sound.
