Swing Machine Big Band is an All Star big band, comprised of many former members of the Air Force Airmen of Note, Army Blues, Navy Commodores, Glenn Miller Orchestra and other professional musicians from the Washington DC area. Swing Machine features exceptional solo talent, and plays a wide variety of traditional swing era songs in addition to many contemporary jazz selections. Formed in 2008 by band leader Geoff Peterson and managed by wife Laura Peterson, Swing Machine Big Band continues to establish local and national recognition for their professional sound. Under the musical direction of jazz saxophonist Pete BarenBregge and jazz trombonist Rick Lillard, Swing Machine Big Band is not "Your parent's or grand-parent's big band" as recently highlighted in Prince William Living magazine. Members of Swing Machine have performed with Frank Sinatra, Jr., Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Dianne Schuur, Charlie Byrd, Carlos Santana, Grover Washington Jr., Chuck Mangione, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Mel Torme, Johnny Mathis, Henry Mancini, Dizzy Gillespie, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Modern English, Ben Vereen, Frankie Avalon, The Platters, Maureen McGovern, 5th Dimension, Blues Traveler, Ray Charles, Barry Manilow, Al Jarreau, Harry Connick, Jr., Gladys Knight, the Temptations, Four Tops and the O-Jays, and more. Additionally, many have performed for Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, George "W" Bush and current President Obama.
