Album Notes
California Christmas is Scott West & Sex On Sunday's follow-up to their December 2005 release "Sex On Sunday." Sex On Sunday's stunning California Christmas version of Aulde Lang Syne fits nicely with over-the-top Christmas classic "Police Took My Dad" and the "Red Hot Chili Pepper" influenced Christmas-dance-groove "California Christmas" making this a must have for anyone that loves music or the holiday season.

California Christmas features Sex On Sunday front man Scott West with Tesla’s Brian Wheat (bass) and Frank Hannon (guitar), and SOS bandmates Mike Belicci, Mike "Megavoice" LaPlante, Perry Clark and Scott Rich.

"Scott West's 'California Christmas' is a wonderful holiday album with several songs destined to be December classics!"
Monterey County Weekly

The piano/guitar recording of "Auld Lang Syne" has been described as the best all time recording of "Auld Lang Syne" and best contemporary (modern) "Auld Lang Syne" download by New York City entertainment critic Marie Lila in her 9-11-07 story on this song of remembrance (The Village Voice-New York City).

"West's Auld Lang Syne has a beautiful melodic proportion and inebriating bridge section that make this the best recorded version of Auld Lang Syne."

The 2nd Auld Lang Syne recording (track 9) is the perfect classical / classic version of this New Year's Eve Song favorite.

Scott West's wacky Christmas classic "Police Took My Dad" receives significant radio airplay with even the craziest "Dr. Demento" featured Christmas anthems and is the perfect silly Christmas song to add fun to any Christmas Party or New Year's event.

The California Christmas song is West's fresh new Christmas dance groove with Tesla's bass boy Brian Wheat and Sex On Sunday drummer Mike Belicci digging the perfect trench for Frank Hannon's enchanting Cali-Mex slide guitar. The title track, California Christmas, features West's wintry holiday keyboards accenting a solid RHCP vibe that could fit into any Clint Eastwood western.

James Pierpont is a tribute to the history of Jingle Bells and the former California resident (Pierpont) that wrote i. West chronicles the historic "California Christmas" link to our most well known Christmas song.

"If you think hearing "Auld Lang Syne" on New Year's is bound to be ho-hum, you're humming the wrong tune. On the Web, you can find a myriad of exciting alternative renditions for the stroke-of-midnight classic, including the riveting arrangement by Scott West and Sex On Sunday featuring poignant piano and soaring electric guitars..."

"Police Took My Dad" is the best "fun, crazy, zany, silly, favorite Christmas song since "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer!" This is the my favorite "Silly Christmas Song" and should be the most requested holiday favorite on Doctor Demento (Dr. Demento Radio Show)!

Sex On Sunday California Xmas
An exciting follow-up to the first album, Scott West and the band deliver yet another masterpiece! The opening instrumental California Christmas has a unique flavor of Southern Cal-Mex tone (thanx to Frank Hannon of Tesla!) coupled with a solid dance beat. There is an element of Winter and snow and ice from Scott West's keyboard talents along with a rock hard bass line from Brian Wheat of Tesla. I can listen to it over and over again, which is why I was surprised to find a 2nd version on the CD!
Police Took My DAD!! LOL! That shows a sense of humour in an all too serious genre of music. In fact Veliz Navidad always annoyed me because of the over-play, now I have something to off-set that with! Kind of punk-ish and poppy and I laughed and will rock on Xmas!!
Auld Lang Syne: WOW!!!!! I Mean f'in WOW! Scott WesT Sets the scene with touching piano, the kind that your mom would be made to say," OOh my, he plays so nice!" and then Frank Hannon , who in is own right is a "Guitar Hero", blesses the composition with a subtle, yet bold classic fuzz tone that brings the song into the 21st Century and by all means should be revered so. The comparison to Jimi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner is hard to dismiss { and yet Jimi himself has performed an impromtu version with Band Of Gypsys }however, one must say that in sharp contrast Frank Hannon delivers a well-balanced combination of sustain and control in his delivery of the infamous melody line. I will never thumb my nose at Auld Lang Syne again, especially since I still can never remember or understand the lyrics anyhow!
James Pierpoint: What can I say? Scott West inbibes us to think and hands us a brief history lesson of a song "Jingle Bells" that we take for granted every year. A tribute! Amazing!
And to Scott West, I love the album! I have both and I cant wait for the next!!!!

Must Have Holiday Album!
This is a completely original, fun holiday album! Police Took My Dad is a hilarious, catchy satire of Feliz Navidad. Love it! I laugh out loud and get it stuck in my head whenever I hear the original Feliz Navidad. Auld Lang Syne is a modern, rockin' version of the classic New Year's Eve tune. California Christmas rocks. This CD will add a fresh, dancable sound to your Christmas season.

Jacqueline Robbins

Have yourself a merry little Christmas--California style! From the zany parody 'Police Took My Dad' to the whimsical dance track 'California Christmas' and the New Years favorite 'Aulde Lang Syne,' Scott West's California Christmas has something for everyone in our family.

A MUST BUY For Christmas..
Scott West's rendition of Auld Lang Syne is hands down the best version I've EVER heard. With a beautifully written and played dreamy guitar solo and perfectly orchestrated music box-like piano's certain to give you chill bumps EVERY time you listen to it. That song ALONE is worth buying this album. Police Took My Dad and Jingle Bells are sure to become quick favorites as well. If you're looking for something fresh to listen to this holiday season...this is your album.

My All Time Favorite Christmas & New Year's Music
California Christmas is a holiday classic with a catchy winterly melody and rugged South Western Cali-Mex slide guitars that remind me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers playing hip dance music that makes my entire body want to move. Cali Christmas is the ultimate "Christmas Cool!"

Scott West's Auld Lang Syne is the all time best recording of the New Year's classic, which is why so many radio stations feature it on New Years Eve. Rockin guitars play the timeless melody with more power, dynamics and edge than dare I say "Jimi Hendrix." The arrangement frames the guitar lines perfectly and then ends it delicately with a crisp music box echo. I still get goose bumps. This is by far the best Auld Lang Syne recording of all time and West's original bridge is a catchy, brilliant addition to this timeless classic that makes this famous song even better.

Police Took My Dad is an over-the-top feel-good-fun-song with a tongue-in-cheek pop-punk feel.

Room 413 sounds like a current version of the Eagles playing one of Brian Wilson's best songs with Crosby, Stills & Nash singing the harmonies. Infectious storyline, words and melody that take you instantly to a tropical beach!

Pair of Angels is a mystical, harmony laden song about the arch angels Jophiel and Raziel that are charged with over-seeing the beauty and secrets of the universe.

This was the only Christmas CD that I played last year. It is fresh, captivating and memorable. Scott West & his band are music's best kept secret! Five Stars... I'd give ten stars, if I could!
