ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Lead parents and teachers to this CD: it is one they can listen to even if the kids aren't in the car. ...Mulcahy's vocals are clear as a bell", Children's Librarian Review.

This CD is powerful mix of fun, innocence and depth that is the essence of kids. How could not be...Kids helped write the songs.

"Give them paper and a pen, let the poet have a voice".

Seasoned songwriter, Tami Mulcahy took the songwriting idea to a local grade school. She gave the kids a concept and helped them build the story. The result was astonishing.

Each song has a story, be it how it evolved or simply a special moment in the writing process. But the concepts and down to the very words the kids came up with were honored in the lyrics.

This CD is a tribute to kids. "Music enriches our lives. We must give this gift to our children. They are fountains of creativity...Let it flow."

Welcome to the World is such a feel good song...a great way to start the day. From an 8 year old point of view, life is about the simple things, feeling loved and knowing we are proud of them. They also learned through writing this song, that if they want people to notice them, they need to notice other people too and share their love as well. Welcome To The World is the featured song in a video that won the Panasonic New Vision Award.

The 5th grade kids said they wanted to write a song about the Olympics and Sept 11th. Tall order but we did it in When I Grow Up. This is dedicated to the hero in all of us.

Give Some Back is the second song I wrote with kids...a group of 80 third graders. It's a powerful piece. I knew it the moment I finished it. I had the honor to sing Give Some Back under the stars to an audience of 500 in support of sustainable living and ecological programs in our area. This song is a premiere example of what kids can come up with..."and on the bottom is a plaque that reads, life's too short for greed, Give Some Back."

Kids Rock was the very first song I wrote with kids...a group of third graders. Who would have thought... And Kids Rock, the Project, was born!

We were driving in the car one day when out of the blue my 8 year old son says, Mommy do we live in a one story house. I laughed and said, Yes...But it has lots of stories to tell. Right there and then, I so wanted to go home and write this song. But I decided to wait and offer up the concept to a group of 4th graders. I am so very
glad I did.

A Page From Your Book...thank you Reverend King...yes, the answer lies in each of us.

California or Bust...that's what my friends wrote on my car in shoe polish on the day I drove west from Texas. California 4th graders study the Gold Rush. It was great fun going to Coloma with the kids, learning more about the history of this great state and writing this song.
