Album Notes
Tania Grubbs is a graduate of Youngstown State University, where she, through the mentorship of the late great Tony Leonardi, cultivated her love of jazz and the classic American Songbook.

Her husband, bassist-Jeff Grubbs' orchestral career in the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra and now the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has taken Tania to south Florida and Pittsburgh, where Tania has sung in many jazz clubs and performed in numerous concert settings and theatre productions.

These days, Tania has been fronting her own jazz quintet, and most recently, wrote and produced a series of six 80-minute concerts, which are like multi-media musical “mini documentaries”.
These concerts, entitled the "I AM Series" were performed at Pittsburgh's City of Asylum/Alphabet City in 2019, with the hopes to perform them in other venues throughout the country. The "I AM" concerts, each centered around a different theme, led to the creation of some original compositions and unique arrangements of eclectic material. Some of those compositions and arrangements combined with encouragement from friend and "Jazz Cellar" owner David Budway led to this amazing performance, which was recorded live in May 2019 at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar in Nyack, NY.

Joining Tania are world-class jazz musicians David Budway on piano, Ron Affif on guitar, James Johnson III on drums and Jeff Grubbs on bass.

Tania Grubbs Quintet, Live at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar marks Tania’s second commercial release. Her debut album "Lost in the Stars" was released in 2014.
