Dirty Mercy

by Tanya Winch

“Though her themes are estrogen-driven, they don’t drive off the male population. Instead, they give you a look into a smart woman’s mind.” (Music Connection Magazine) Tanya is a musical carpenter with songwriting skills burnished by hundreds of songs worth of experience. She’s got a hold on a mighty fine voice to boot; it can gravel like a jackhammer or subtly lullaby you home. A good portion of her sophomore solo release was written as example while teaching songwriting with the exciting and wine soaked GirlGuitarAustin.com.

Great on a snowy day
Loved the easy sound of Tanya and her original songs. Great to play when your trapped in your house during a snowstorm in Wisconsin and all there is to do is clean and bake cookies! I loved each song and have been playing it everday since I got it. Also, the art on the cover is amazing...good job Tanya!

Purely Tanya, completely amazing!
I would pick a song I like the best, but I can't. I love them all. If you have never heard her fantastic voice, or experienced her songwriting, it is about time you did. Give it a listen, you will want to buy it!

Best by far!
This CD seriously brought tears to my eyes. The honesty, openess with which she sings, you really feel you're getting a window straight into the soul of this amazing woman and artist. Tanya's song writing, it really is poetry, has reached new heights that I never thought were possible. And some of the songs have been reworked in really cool, different ways, like Roll you Home - one of my all time favs ..... so fun and upbeat and so hard to sit still :) LOVE your work Tan, and this is your best by far!

Feel the love
Tanya Winch sure can sing 'em. And she can write 'em too. Everything from Tanya's poetry to her fun twang rounds out this great collection of songs. When she sings about Opa Lights you feel that you really are there; when you realize you aren't, you want to jump on the next plane to Austin, TX and see her live! Tanya handles both pathos and humor adeptly with her sensitive song writing. She sings with such feeling that all the love that she pours into these soulful recordings surrounds you like an embrace. Tanya is a true musician and a prolific poet. A gem like Dirty Mercy comes along once in a blue moon.

Divinely Inspired
Anyone paying attention to Winch's work can hear the evolution from LA to Austin in this project. The loss of a parent, the gain of a love- new life has breathed into her music and it is clear, Texas is where this girl belongs. "Carry On" is a highlight. Dirty Mercy is this songwriter's best work to date, and that's saying a lot.

Getting Ready...To Be a Big Hit
Tanya Winch's new album Dirty Mercy should be required listening for anyone who likes Folk music with a distinctly Austin feel. Tanya's lyrics and voice make this album beautiful and moving. Those from Austin will especially love "Opa Lights", and anyone who has ever waited on a heartbreak will love "Getting Ready". This is a beautiful work by a gifted singer and songwriter. Check it out!
