Album Notes
Taraf de Akácfa was created by traveling street musicians who met in Budapest, Hungary in a house on Akácfa Street. The members of the group came from Transylvania, Moldova, Sweden, USA , Hungary, and France. They eventually chose to stay in Budapest and share their common passion and appreciation for traditional folk music. Over the years, they have researched and traveled to the origins of this music. They have had the opportunity to learn from some of the finest Folk and Roma musicians, such as Taraf de Haidouks and Marcel Ramba. They mix their knowledge and different musical backgrounds to blend traditional styles with new ideas and arrangements. Their repertoire ranges from Romanian Horas; and heart-wrenching Transylvanian songs, to danceable Macedonian Cočeks; and complex odd-time Bulgarian melodies.

Taraf de Akácfa started in September 2014, and released their first full length self-titled album in October 2016. It was recorded in Budapest in December 2015. They just released their second full length album "Trei Focuri" in November 2018 which was also recorded in Budapest.
