Album Notes
Tattoo has been around since 1978, having played on both coasts, settling in New Hampshire in 1986. It has been the band's mission to play great dance music on acoustic instruments, without sacrificing the funk and groove. In fact, the acoustic instruments keep it grounded in soul and connected to the people around it.
This lineup of musicians has been playing together for over 20 years and has developed its own sound that is unique to Tattoo, but familiar-sounding as well. Acoustic bass and drums provide a solid thumping groove for the horns and vocals to soar over, while the keyboard, accordion and guitar add color and warmth. The original songs chosen for this album hold up in performance and resonate in a universal way. The cover songs fill out the moods on the album and make all 12 songs a complete experience. Dance music has always been the focus of the band, and this album is no exception. So enjoy, and get a groove on!
